Summer is one of the reasons Minnesotans stick it out through the rough winters. The first weekend full of sunshine and green grass and it’s like the city comes alive again. Take a drive around the lakes, and you’ll see a myriad of people, walking, running sailing on the lake, BBQing, playing volleyball and more. Not to mention the exorbitant amount of cyclists - we may not be on Amsterdam’s level but Minneapolis is rated one of the most bikeable cities in the nation. And we’re proud of it.
Summer in the Twin Cities is also a great time to enjoy the local music scene and outdoor events. To help you hit up the best, and perhaps more unique options, we’ve rounded up some of our favorites.
Northern Spark is an all-night art festival where over 10,000 people gather to enjoy temporary installations, giant video projections, experimental performances and more. This years Northern Spark will be held at not two but three locations! Check out all the details here: https://2019.northernspark.org/festivaloverview/

Aster Cafe - Adam Levy
One of the coziest restaurant / bars east of the river, the Aster Cafe is a favorite of ours. Yummy apps, wine and good music - what more could you want? While you can find good music almost any night, Adam Levy is a well-known respected musician in the Twin Cities surely worth seeing. This particular night he’s covering acoustic 60s and 70s folk!
Turf Club - Tina and The B Sides
One of the most popular joints in the Twin Cites for live music, the Turf Club is a great spot for date nights, GNO or a late night happy hour. Tina and The B Sides, a classic band from MN and fav of Founder / CEO Laura, is performing end of June. If you’ve never been, we’d recommend starting with this show!

In partnership with The Current and First Ave, Surly is hosting Lord Huron at Festival Field (LINK: https://surlybrewing.com/events/lord-huron-at-festival-field/) - located right behind their brewery. Complete with tons of food trucks and beer tents, this concert is a great place for big groups. There isn’t tons of parking so we suggest taking the Green Line, biking or grabbing a Lyft to the brewery.
Parkway Theater Movies
Considered a historic landmark in Minneapolis, this beautiful theater hosts movies, music and live events for all. We love it for cheap movies (usually reruns of the classics) - great for rainy weekends or easy date nights. We’re especially excited for the Star Wars collection coming out mid-July.
QUEEN at the Xcel
Must we say more? In collab with Adam Lambert, you won’t want to miss this one. Fun for all ages.
